me new os beta tester

Me, a new OS beta tester...?!

Hello all. I'm new.
Well, I guess the kids at Redmond have gotten down to the Windows Feedback Panelists, as I've been asked to participate in the upcoming (starting in June) review of whatever Beta of Vista that they'll be sending out for same.
While I'm not exactly a power user, I do know my way around Windows PCs a bit having three desktops running a combo of XP Home and Pro on a wireless network, etc. I tend to be a good boy maintaining my boxes, running utilities and keeping AV updates,...well,... updated, etc. My mother-ship is a Dell P4 8300 with 1.5 GIG of memory, ATI Radeon 9550.
As for critical apps and utilities I run Spysweeper, McAfee AV(look out?), GoTo My PC, Quicken 2004, Adobe PS Elements. Any other information you need to help me with this big "should I or shouldn't I" question, ask away,...if you want to participate that is ;-)

tell us how you was able to participate

I guess because I signed up to be a "Windows Feedback Panelist" member at some point.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but my assumption is that most persons posting here and the other MS Vista Usenet groups are also beta testers(?)
Anyway, I'll try anything once, so I signed up. Looks like I'll get a free seat of the final product once released too. I like saving, what, probably $100-$200?

You're wrong, this is a public newsgroup and anyone can read/post here. Beta testers are given information about private newsgroups which require a user name and password to access.
Please remember this and be a bit careful of posting anything that might be against the non-disclosure agreement you signed or will sign.

I am going to be Very Angry at Microsoft if us MSDN Tester's Don't get a New Build on Monday, May 22nd, 2006 (Which is When Beta 2 is Supposed to Come Out, at least According to PT from http://www.winsupersite.com), just FYI.

If you attend WinHEC, then you may be able to get Beta 2 on that date. If your not attending, then you will have to wait like the rest of us.

Can you please STOP using the FYI thing - there's no need for it. We know you're giving information (or what you think is information and not mindless banter), so just stop using it!

One other thing, I want to personally thank you for supplying to me, your actual ISP abuse email address. Ouch...I bet that hurt! I love it when someone shoots themselves in the foot. Saves us all on ammunition. With that, I'm currently reviewing your individual account agreement as it pertains to their "AUP", "HSI" and "Customer Agreement". Also, being as numb brained as you seem, you are probably unaware of the fact that you are on a Microsoft news group and as such are subject to their rules and regulations (aka net etiquette). Irritate MS enough and you'll be HISTORY! Then again, why try to wise up a fool like you when your own self-destructive actions will have the same desired effect. Anyway, good night and good luck! I have much more important things to do, such as watching paint dry. Frank

As I have allready mentioned, That Alias is for E-mailing Phishing Complaint's Only! Under U.S.A. Law and the First Amendment to the Constitution of the U.S.A., your only option is to do a Block Sender in Outlook Express.

Hello all.
Any other information you need to help me with this big "should I or shouldn't I" question, ask away,...if you want to participate that is ;-)

all.

You're gonna lose your ISP if you don't stop your childish whining. Frank

You realise a lot of the time that neowin and paul thurrott is pure speculation? Nothing they say can be set in stone. Oh, and having read a *lot* of your posts over the last few days, I have a small request (note, I'm asking politely), can you please stop putting "just FYI" at the end of your posts please. Just FYI, it's slightly annoying...

Like Neowin.net says, Beta 2 had better be Released on Saturday, May 27th, 2006, and Not one day later!

You're gonna be "Very Angry" at Microsoft for not delivering something by a date "promised" on a web site that is not even affiliated with Microsoft?
Hey, Kevin, I heard GM was coming out next year with a car that does 120mpg, and sell it for US$5K. How great is that?! You should place your order now. You can quote me on that. In fact, Google's Usenet archive will take care of that. I guess that makes it official enough.

As I have allready mentioned, That Alias is for E-mailing Phishing Complaint's Only!

No email, no way to reach Comcast, huh?

Hey, Zack! If we all block him, he'll be stuck talking to himself. Boy, won't that be a kick; sitting there in the corner arguing with himself. :-}

He'd still get upset at the responses he'd get.

All they have to do is Read Most of the Posts from this Newsgroup (like Peter Foldes Posts, for Example), and they will notice that you guys are Picking on me just because I am Different from everyone else.

I wasn't aware that having some sort of disability gave anyone a license to act as a major PITA to the Usenet community.
Obviously, people aren't picking on you for the reasons you think.

Who cares?

Or, one could just block out the posts that contain "just FYI" or "P.S.S.S" (mabey P.S*?). ;)

Kevin is retarded?!? (I know his issue was only specified as a 'handicap', but due to the nature and quantity of his posts, severe mental impairment or handicap seems like the only logical conclusion). Poor guy!

Can you please STOP using the FYI thing - there's no need for it. We know you're giving information (or what you think is information and not mindless banter), so just stop using it! Zack Whittaker
